Found in January 2001, ALTEC Energy Systems was created by merging the talents of experts in utility regulation and energy conservation with that of former Honeywell energy controls engineers and managers. ALTEC focuses on the measurement of energy usage at the room level, real-time energy use monitoring and control of energy systems, and energy conservation opportunities. We are actively involved with building owners, utilities, HVAC control manufacturers and state regulatory agencies in the areas of real-time energy monitoring and pricing.
Our company is a multi-disciplined solution provider with research and development pooled resources for defining and testing energy management solutions. Our clients range from single building owners to school districts.
ALTEC Energy’s goal is to provide reliable energy solutions to our clients and member companies. Biographies
Jim Jarvis Jim Jarvis is the co-founder & president of ALTEC Energy Systems, Inc. – a conservation-oriented company that provides information and tools to business and school district energy users so they can make efficient and reliable energy decisions. While serving with the Attorney General’s Office, and Federal Energy Administration (now DOE), Mr. Jarvis was an advocate, advisor and regulator of the nation’s energy and telecommunications sectors, and is versed in both rate base and incentive regulation schemes. As an assistant commissioner to both the Minnesota Departments of Public Service and Trade and Economic Development he was responsible for creating and supporting Minnesota’s public infrastructure, including: creation of international finance and business support programs, incentive regulation for telecommunications, waste management policy, utility pricing, cogeneration regulation, certificate of needs, as well as the founding of Minnesota’s conservation program. He holds NARUC certificates for his training in utility regulation.

George Crolick has over 30 years of business, government, and leadership experience. His work experience includes co-founder of TradeSource International, LLP; past President and CEO of the Minnesota World Trade Center Corporation; former Deputy Commissioner and Executive Director of the Minnesota Trade Office; and a 25-year career at Honeywell, Inc. in a variety of international and domestic executive positions, including Director of IAQ Products for the Company. He has extensive international management experience, with working visits to more than 85 countries. Participated in two power plant qualification projects in Estonia and the Philippines. Managed product and systems entry into energy and clear air markets. A retired Navy Captain (USNR), he has served on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota International Center, the Foreign Trade Zone Commission, the Minnesota District Export Council, the Midwest International Agri-Trade Council, and George Washington University advisory council for state governments.

Paul Anderson is a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer experienced in software application development, product and process development, and system engineering projects. He has applied electronic, system, computer, and software technologies to new products and services development with both large and small companies representing the computer, building, process, telecommunications, utility, automotive, appliance, and software industries worldwide. Mr. Anderson has both led and been a member of many product development teams, and is intimately familiar with energy management systems and the challenges of new product development. Further, he has conducted numerous marketing programs to develop new customers for R&D services and has recruited industrial partners for joint business developments.

| Jack Ruff is a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer and a former director of engineering for Honeywell. During his 32 years with that company he was involved in communications; energy management; switching technologies using microprocessors; assessing and developing indoor air quality sensors; and creating advanced software. Mr. Ruff managed development teams at Honeywell’s corporate R&D group, Energy Products Center and MicroSwitch. He has participated in numerous new company startups, and is experienced at infusing new technology into existing business units and in transfer technology from corporate research to operations. Ruff has completed studies for the DOE, Fortune 500 clients, the City of Minneapolis, and international clients including Yamatake of Japan and motor technologies companies of Taiwan. |
